RBI UDGAM.

(Unclaimed Deposits – Gateway to Access Information) was launched by RBI as a Centralized Web Portal to help facilitate the public to access their unclaimed deposits across various banks. If you have opened accounts a long time back and have lost track of it– this is the place to go. Currently 7 banks are enrolled, and others will follow suit. Pretty cool, isn’t it? You will need to use some basic information to create an account and then use the search facility to find out your forgotten money. Forgive the RBI if the site is down sometimes.

G20 Summit:

G20 was India’s best foot forward in succession after launch of Chandrayan and Aditya II. If you look at history G20’s track record to do something concrete is extremely low. This time around India was able to forge some key alliances and declarations that could have long term impacts. First is India Economic Corridor to EU via Saudi. Secondly Global biofuel alliance might reduce oil imports for India. Inclusion of African Union could see more exchange of Pharma, Technology and Minerals. Overall, we feel Infrastructure, Oil and Green Fuel companies and Mining sectors will hugely benefit with this step. This could be cheap credit or acceptance of Indian companies in the global markets.

Defense Sector:

This is a very interesting sector to be in primarily for 2 reasons, Privatization has helped large manufacturing companies play a key role in reshaping the sector. Global conflicts have stirred the demand in a huge way and India is one of the players in the big leagues. L&T, Mahindra , Tata and Kalyani group seem to be well poised to take advantage when it comes to Propulsion Systems, Armor Protection, Aerostructures, Communications, Weapon Systems, Electronics etc. Some of the drone companies are making headline news but the margins are very thin. I would bet on the big players will deep outreach and pockets. Defense Spend of India is steady and growing at 4% at $11Billion and exports are growing at whooping 300% in the past 4 years.

Hold paper shares?

Still hold paper shares of companies listed, you might have missed out on Dividends and right valuations if the company split, and you don’t have a record of them. NRI’s who migrated in the 80’s might hold shares of companies in paper format that is not dematerialized. NRI savior is here to help you dematerialize it or even liquidate it for you. Key Personal finance term – Benchmarking:

Benchmarking is comparing your investments’ performance with an available index / rate. It is a critical term to consider when making investments. If you see that your portfolio returns is not comparable to a benchmark e.g. NIFTY50 or BANKBEES or Government Bond, it’s difficult to tell relatively if you are doing good or bad. If you are doing badly, then the easier way out is to invest in Index Funds that will perform like the Index itself. Message us if you must dig deeper to value your India portfolio.
